The Caribe

Hey, why not? There is no reason not to live the island life all the time. When you are in the Caribbean time just seems to move slower. Even slower than Vermont. Sipping on umbrella drinks, watching the sunset. We did our best to capture the spirit and bring it here. The Caribe’s design included a loft. This was more than anything to show the efficiency of space to potential homebuilders. The stucco exterior looks almost as out of place as the tile roof. We did that un purpose. Upon entry you will notice a mixed hardwood floor. We did not do that un purpose, but when life gives you a deal on flooring, use it. The walls are a texture we came up with by trial and error and a ton of sheetrock mud. The trim is all recycled from an old building which had lot of funky moldings. There is plenty of space in the kitchen to cook and mix blender drinks. The cabinets were made on site and all the lumber for the loft floor and ceiling came from local mills. All the artwork came from frequent trips to Puerto Rico by us and our family. The Caribe is pretty bombproof which is the reason we allow Fido in here. Sitting on the porch with your feet in the sand (yeah, we built a little beach) on a warm June day, or watching falling snowflakes. We built the Caribe with relaxation in mind.
