The cottages at Shéady Acres
Shéady Acres is at the gateway to one of the most unspoiled areas in the country, the Northeast Kingdom. Although there are many activities in the area, the main attraction continues to be the great expanses of natural habitat that exist in the region. Jay peak ski area is five miles up the road while Stowe, Burlington and Montreal are all under one and a half hours away.
All our cottages were designed with the savvy traveler in mind and are outfitted with a fridge/freezer, convection oven, microwave and full compliment of dishware and kitchen amenities. The cottages have natural queen size New Englander pillow top mattresses, flat screen satellite television and wireless internet. On-demand hot water and adjustable propane heat will keep you warm on those cold north country nights.
Many people ask us “if you would have known what was involved, would you have done it”? We would always reply, “Depends what day you ask us”. Now that it is done the answer is unequivocally “Yes”. This project took us almost three years to complete and countless rough mental and physical patches. In the end we exceeded our own expectations of what can be achieved by hard work, determination and the help of family and friends. Most importantly we have created a place that we ourselves would like to stay. We couldn’t be happier that you’ve decided to spend time with us exploring the area we love and call our home.

“The Caribe” is our ode to time spent relaxing. There is absolutely no reason the island life cannot be lived in any climate. The warm colors and textured interior make a blender drink in the middle January seem completely appropriate. A slightly smaller bathroom leaves more room for lounging and jumping on the bed. Life is a beach, and that beach is in front of the Caribe at Shéady Acres. Pet friendly! [read more]

"The Adobe": Hemlock timbers hand-hewed from rough logs and stained to perfect Sedona red provide the skeleton of this "Eastern Adobe". Natural cedar and earthtone interiors blend with heated Mexican tile and southwestern artwork to create a desert environment worth of Santa Fe. From the outside you may think Clint Eastwood himself is inside drinking cowboy coffee before he hits the slopes. The Adobe has a Queen sized bed in its oversized loft with rollling views into the valley. The Queen sized sleeper sofa downstairs also sleeps a couple more buckaroos. The kitchen has everything you need to round up the troops when the chuckwagon bell sounds. This may be the first and last chance to stay in a true Adobe east of the Mississippi.
Happy trails. [read more]
