About Shéady Acres
Sheady Acres started over ten years ago when Eamon O’Shea purchased twenty-five acres of prime meadow and woodlands on Rte 242 in Montgomery Center, Vermont. A tree house was his first endeavor where he lived for a few years with his dog, Huck. The West was calling him, however, so he spent a few winters in Winter Park, Colorado and Jackson Hole, Wyoming, always returning in the spring to his first love, Vermont.
Eamon and Shawna met in Winter Park, Colorado. Now married for over three years, they live in the home that Eamon built on Sheady Acres, which they share with their baby daughter and their now eleven year old, faithful companion, Huck.
Eamon has been in the carpentry/construction business for twelve years. During the winter of 2008/09 he started designing themed cottages that he would build himself and rent to visitors who frequent the Jay Peak area. Having traveled to different parts of the world, Eamon was inspired to create The Sugar House which is pure Vermont, The Caribe, his interpretation of a Caribbean cottage and the Tea House which is his idea of a Japanese Pagoda. After traveling to Ireland, Eamon and his wife, Shawna, fell in love with the Irish cottages they saw in County Cork. The fourth cottage will be influenced by the traditional Irish cottage design and will be completed in 2010. Shawna decorated the interiors to enhance the individual flavors of each cottage so your experience will continue as you open the door and head inside.
Sheady Acres Cottages have been a labor of love and an expression of creativity that Eamon and Shawna sincerely hope will be shared by those who come and visit them. Give us a try. We look forward to hearing from you.
